And all it took was just one little crack in Sinofsky’s Windows Omerta wall (Steven Sinofsky, Senior Vice President, Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group). Under Sinofsky, access to upcoming Windows releases, as well as information on forthcoming products associated with the platform have been drastically limited. At the time of this article, there were several websites offering the same download claiming to be the official test version of Windows XP SP3 that Microsoft has dropped in the lap of testers in July concomitantly with the availability of the pre-beta release of Windows Vista Service Pack 1

All the torrents were just a few hours old and contain information designed to recommend them as the official test version of Microsoft’s Windows XP SP3. One such example of data is the build number. The version leaked to the torrent trackers claims to be Build 3180. If this is indeed the case, then the torrent confirms the previously available screenshots of the third service pack for the operating system. The download for Windows XP SP3 also provides the full build tag which is: 5.1.2600.3180 (xpsp.070718-2058)…another detail that seems to point to the fact that the torrent will offer the genuine XP SP3 test build. Additionally, the download weighs in at 339.6 Mb and is an .EXE file.

The person that leaked the Windows XP SP3 test version even offered a message to Sinofsky: “This is the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Build 3180. Think of it more as a pre-beta build of SP3 than an actual beta build. Let this be a lesson to Steven Sinofsky that being secretive is NOT always the best way to do things.”

Now, the fact of the matter is that torrent trackers are virtually saturated with downloads claiming to be Windows XP Service Pack 3. Some of them are even a few years old, and probably contain more malware than Windows source code. Obviously, you will not get a download link from.

Hitman: Codename 47 is a game in which you strangle a man as he urinates in a storm grate. And that’s only the beginning of the dark, adult subject matter. The game puts you in control of a trained killer who uses stealth and firepower to murder various thugs and criminals. Even if you like the basic premise and action of the game, a number of very serious flaws quickly sap its entertainment value.

The frame story, such as it is, owes a large debt to the movie La Femme Nikita, or its Americanized version, Point of No Return. Your alter ego, the bald and nameless hit man, begins the game restrained to a bed in padded room. You’re then greeted by a disembodied, Russian-sounding voice that orders you through a training course tutorial. Here, with melodramatic camp, he’ll instruct you on how to use a garrote to strangle a dummy, drone on about the origins and technical specs of the AK-47, and largely annoy you. Oddly, your character never once stops to ask where he is, why he has a bar code on the back of his head, or who this talkative Russian is who’s ordering him about. The main hint about the hit man’s origins is a vague, uninformed, and potentially insulting introduction in the manual that compares science and religion and hints at Frankenstein-like attempts to outdo nature. The predictable truth about the hit man’s origins is eventually revealed as you progress through the game.

A non-proxy connection to the Internet. This can be through a dial-up connection, cable or DSL connection or an office LAN. If your connection to the Internet is only through a proxy server you will not be able to use NeoTrace. If you are behind a firewall and it is not configured to allow traceroute and ping you will not be able to use NeoTrace. Firewalls can be reconfigured to allow NeoTrace to operate. Proxies can be replaced by or supplemented by a true NAT (network address translator). Talk to your network administrator for more information, direct them to this document and our online FAQ system.
Internet Explorer 4.01 or greater. NeoTrace makes use of several updates to the Windows operating system. Some of these updates are available separately but the simplest way to ensure you have all the updates is to install IE 4.01 or greater. IE does not need to be your default or main browser, it simply needs to be installed.
NeoTrace performs a great deal of data correlation in order to create the trace map as accurately as possible, in order to do this it must communicate with special application servers at NeoWorx headquarters. Any circumstance on your computer or local network, such as a firewall with too restrictive a configuration, may limit the ability of NeoTrace to perform all functions.
